The implementation date has since been charged to .April 1, 1998 . Responsibility for outpatient specialty mental health services involves contracts with individual, group and organizational providers to deliver these services . Raphael, M.D. (Specialty: General Surgery) , effect4-ve May 1, 1999, to modify the Contract payment provisions to allow the Contractor to be paid for additional General Surgery on-call coverage services . Surgery services . .At the request cf the County, Dr. Raphael has agreed to provide additional on- call, coverage, in addition to his regular on-call coverage services for Contra Costa. Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa 1-:ealth Centers, while the Department continue is recrumtm.ent process to hire a full. time General. Surgeon.. BACKGROtTIM/RRASONL61 FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) : For several years the County 1-h-as contrasted with nursing registries to prov4de temporary l icebsed nurs.Ing personnel to assist Cobsvra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa :health Centers during pear loads, temporary absences and emergency situations in critical areas. There is a -nationwide nursmng shortage, and in spite of persistent- efforts ersistentefforts to recruit nurses, the Department has experienced great difficulty in filing any vacant positions. Therefore, the Department has had to rely heavily on the registry services in order to provide quaity nursing care for patients . Under Contract 26-371, Surgical Staff, Ince , will provide nursing registry services to Contra Costa Regional. Medical Center and Contra. Costa Health Centers through May 31, 2000 .
