Barry, AICP '` Community Development Director DATE: September 1, 1998 SUBJECT: Request for Transfer of Community Development Block Grant Funds SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATIONS APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Deputy Director, Redevelopment to carry forward $542, 178 in unexpended Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the FY 1997/98 CDBG Housing Development Assistance Fund (CDBG/HDAF) to the FY 1998/99 CDBG/HDAF. FISCAL IMPACT No General Fund impact. CDBG funds are provided to the County by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The purpose of the FY 1998/99 CDBG/HDAF is to provide resources to assist affordable housing projects which develop during FY 1998/99 . The current balance of the FY 1998/99 CDBG/HDAF is $660,500 . Approval of the transfer of $542, 178 in prior year funds will bring the total in the currant year CDBG/HDAF to $1,202 , 678 . Based on current applications and letters of intent received from affordable housing developers, the Department has identified potential requests for CDBG/HDAF funds in the range of over $1 .5 million during FY 1938/99 .
