Specialist Contract #26-944-1 with Shahin Javaheri,, M.D. SPECIFIC REQUEST($)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)A BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION REC0MMENDAtT1ON(S)_: Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, for his designee', (Frank Buglisi, Jr. ) to execute on behalf of the County, Medical Specialist Contract #26-944-1 with Shahin Javaheri, M.D. (specialty: Plastic Surgery) for the period August 1,1998 through July 31, 1999, to be paid as follows: a. 59.85 per hour for clinic coverage, consultation and training; and b. For surgery, seventy -percent (70%) of Medicare RBRVS fee schedule, in effect on the date of surgery. FISCAL IMPACT: Cost to the County depends upon utilization. Specialists to provide specialized professional services which are not otherwise available in its hospital and health center. On August 1 , 1997, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26- 944, with Shanin Javaheri, M.D. , for the period from .August 1, 1997 through July 31, 1998, for the provision of Medical Specialty, Plastic Surgery. Approval of Medical Specialist Contract #26-944-1, will allow Dr. Javaheri, M.D. to continue providing services through July 31, 1999 . Contra Costa DATE: August 5, 1998 County SUBJECT: Contract With Helicopter Adventures Incorporated SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute on behalf of the COUNTY a contract extension agreement with Helicopter Adventures Incorporated. Said extension will extend the term of the contract from March 15, 1999 to June 30, 1999 and will increase the payment limit from $75,000 to $150,000. FISCAL IMPACT: The Sheriff's helicopter program is funded by AB3229 monies budgeted in Fund 114300 (budget unit 0253) and other sources including a contract with Alameda County. This program requires no new County general funds. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: On November 19, 1996, the Board of Supervisors authorized the Sheriff to implement a law enforcement helicopter program and authorized the County Administrator to work with the Sheriff to establish program contract and insurance provisions. This contract will allow the Office of the Sheriff to continue the public/private partnership with Helicopter Adventures, Inc.
