ADOPT this report as the Board of Supervisor's response to the 1997-1998 County Grand Jury Report No. 9804, "The Year 2000". AC p E D I The 1997-1998 County Grand Jury filed the subject report with the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court on May 21, 1998. In accordance with Section 933(C) of the California Government Code, a response to this report has been submitted to the Presiding Judge by the Director of the Department of Information Technology. The Board of Supervisors, as the governing body, must also file its response. ConeluNions Agree with all conclusions except No. 5. With regard to Conclusion No. 5 it needs to be noted that the County's Director of information Technology serves as Co-Chair of a State"Year 2000 External interface Task Force"which is dealing with external interface design and policy issues. Rum nes A. This recommendation will be implemented. The verification of the county's main systems is scheduled for completion not later than December 31, 1998. B. This recommendation is being implemented. The Department of information Technology continuously provides county departments with information on the status of software and hardware to ensure compatibility with the main system at Year 2000. C. This recommendation is being implemented. Actions have been initiated to track the status of outside entities' compatibility with the county's computer sytems. D. This recommendation is being implemented. The response to Recommendation C also applies here. E. This recommendation is being implemented. The General Services Department is heading an effort to locate "embedded chips" and to ensure they are Year 2000 compliant. F. This recommendation has been implemented. Contracts for the purchase of computers and other types of electronic date sensitive equipment require that such equipment be Year 2000 compliant.
