SUBJECT: Train Derailment On September 13, 1997
Phil Batchelor, County Administrator, and Dr. William Walker,
Health Services Director, presented oral reports on the train
derailment in front of USSPOSCO on September 13 , 1997, and the
Board discussed the issue and gave direction to Health Services
Department staff, with the involvement of the Hazardous Materials
Commission, to prepare for Board consideration on a future agenda,
a plan and an outline to address Board members , concerns raised
today including a draft letter to the Public Utilities Commission.
