RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Health Services Director to execute on behalf of the County, Standard Contract #22-402-5 with City of Richmond (Fire Department) , for the period from July 1, 1997 through June 30, 1998, in the amount of $120, 000, for support of the City of Richmond Fire Department's Hazardous Materials Response Unit. This document includes an automatic six-month extension through December 31, 1998, in the amount of $60, 000. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This Contract is included in the Health Services Department' s FY 1997-98 Budget and is funded by AB 2185 inspection fees. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: On April 28, 1987, the Board of Supervisors approved the Hazardous Materials Release Response Plans and Inventory Program, County Ordinance and Fee Resolution, a program which is mandated by California Health and Safety Code, Division 20, Chapter 6. 95, S 25500 (et seq. ) . A significant component of the program is the preparation of Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Programs. This Contract provides funding to maintain a Hazardous Materials Response Unit in West County.
