SUBJECT: Authorize Acceptance of $2,500 School to Work Subgrant with Alameda County
Office of Education.
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Authorize the Executive Director, Contra Costa County Private Industry
Council, to accept a $2,500 School to Work Subgrant with the Alameda
County Office of Education for the term May 1, 1997 through April 30, 1998
to fund at the One Stop Centers resources targeted to support and assist
youth in their school to work activities and efforts.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None. One hundred percent federal funds.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONBACKGROUND:
A collaborative partnership between Alameda and Contra Costa Counties
applied for and received a 5-year $4.7 million federal grant under the
School to Work Opportunities Act; Alameda County Office of Education is
the fiscal agent. This is the second year of federal funding. The other three
East Bay PICS have been offered similar awards.
