SUBJECT: REFERRAL TO THE FAMILY AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
REFER to the Family and Human Services Committee the subject of marketing the
Health Services Department and its programs, as was discussed by the Board of
Supervisors on May 20, 1997.
BACKGROUND:
On May 20, 1997, the Board discussed the progress report on the completion of the
new County Hospital, and agreed to name the new facility the Contra Costa Regional
Medical Center. During the discussion, the Health Services Director suggested
discussing the Department's plans to better market its programs and services to the
community in the Family and Human Services Committee. Supervisor Gerber
suggested that this subject be referred to the Family and Human Services
Committee. However, the referral was not included in the final motion to accept the
report from the County Administrator.
Based on what we understand the request of the Health Services Director and the
intent of at least one Board member to have been, we are recommending that this
subject be referred to the Family and Human Services Committee for further
discussion and subsequent report back to the full Board.
