RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Chair of the Board of Supervisors to execute an Amendment Agreement with Vanstar Corporation to extend the termination date on contract from June 30, 1997 to June 30, 1998. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This action if approved will not result in any increased cost to Department of Information Technology. III. REASON FOR RECOMMENDATION AND BACKGROUND: Many county departments started using Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WANs) as a way to enable their staffs to have access to more and better automated data at their disposal. This is relativ ly new technology and like many organizations we do not have fully trained staff'to service all the demands of our users. We have initiated this contract with Vanstar so their LAN/WAN technical staff can assist our staff. We are developing an in-house staff, but until we have adequately trained Network staff we will need to use outside assistance to meet the demand. I.V. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If the request is not approved, Department of Information Technology will not be able to provide timely technical support to our users.
