RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Social Services Director, or his designee, to execute on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement # 21-177-5, effective August 1, 1997, to amend Service Contract # 21-177-4 with Family Stress Center to expand the services, to increase the Contract Payment Limit by $54,350, from $182,000 to a new total Payment Limit of$236,350. Furthermore, the contractor may submit one demand, for an advance up to $2,500, against start-up and recruitment costs. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This contract is included in the Social Service Department's FY 1997-98 Budget and is funded by the Child Welfare Services allocation. The County share is 30% ($9,783) with 70% Federal and State participation ($44,567). III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: In July, 1997, the Board of Supervisors approved, and the County Administrator executed, Service Contract# 21-177-4 with Family Stress Center for the period from July 1, 1997 through June 30, 1998 for the provision of Parent Aide Services. CC: Contact: Danna Fabella 313-1583 ATTESTED SOCIAL SERVICE (CONTRACTS UNIT) PHIL BATCH OR,CLERK OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR SUPERVISORS AND COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR AUDITOR-CONTROLLER CONTRACTOR BY DEPUTY M382 (10/88) Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement # 21-177-5 will allow the Contractor to provide additional services to the Department for three consecutive months during the implementation phase of Child Welfare Services/Case Management System (CWS/CMS). Service are currently scheduled to be delivered from August 25, 1997 to November 25, 1997. CWS/CMS is intended to improve the efficiency of record keeping, the accuracy of documentation, and the State and County's ability to measure outcomes and accountability. However, it is recognized that Child Welfare case workers will need some additional time to master the new system. Parent Aides will free case workers from time consuming tasks which do not require their direct attention.
