FINANCIAL IMPACT: This proposal will bring in $604,796 in foundation funds to support employment-related services in Bay Point and North Richmond. In addition, this proposal leverages $7,891,822 of County, State, Federal and community-based organization resources. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATIONS: For the past four months, the Service Integration Program has facilitated the development of the Bay Point Works and North Richmond Employment Collaboratives, involving community residents, community-based organizations, public agencies and the schools to design community-wide strategies for increasing economic self-sufficiency in Bay Point and North Richmond. The proposal to the Zellerbach Family Fund is the product of these collaborative fforts. Contact:Sara Hoffman,335-1080 ATTESTED Au U s t 12, PHIL BATCHELOR,CLERK OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AND COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR cc:CAO BY e,J**�_,DEPUTY The Zellerbach Family Fund proposal maximizes the use of public resources and utilizes Zellerbach Family Fund's support to : (1) serve those unemployed and underemployed individuals whose needs are not provided for under existing Federal, State and County funding sources; (2) provide the types of supports and services needed by all unemployed and underemployed individuals, but not sufficiently covered by other existing sources; and (3) build indigenous community capacity to provide comprehensive community-wide employment services over the long-term. This proposal will increase the success of low and no-income community residents to make the transition to economic self- sufficiency. 2
