GILBERT, DIRECTOR OF GENERAL SERVICES E sE L DATE: September 10, 1996 - Contra SUBJECT: APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CHANGE Costa ORDER NO. 1 TO CONTRACT FOR SIDING REPLACEMENT AT , County 10 DOUGLAS DRIVE, MARTINEZ SPECIFIC REQUESTS OR RECOMMENDATION(S)8 BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDATION APPROVE Change Order No. 1 to the Contract dated August 20, 1996, for Siding Replacement at 10 Douglas Drive, Martinez, with William Dahn Construction, of Bay Point, and AUTHORIZE the Director of General Services to execute Change Order No. 1, which increases the Contract Price by $5,438.00, and provides for additional siding replacement and window repair and deletes painting of the exposed face of new wood. 11. FINANCIAL IMPACT There are sufficient funds in the plant acquisition account to cover this Change Order. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONSBACKGROUND A. The low bid for the original contract work was well below the budgeted amount. It is desirable to accomplish replacement of additional deteriorated siding and window repairs at the same time as the original scope of work is taking place. B. The entire exterior of the building is being painted under a separate purchase order. Therefore, all painting of the exposed face of new wood is being deleted from the siding replacement contract and will be accomplished under the separate painting purchase order in order to insure that the same paint materials and colors are used throughout.
