DATE: July 29 , 1996
SUBJECT: CONFIRMATION OF ADDITIONAL VERY HIGH FIRE SEVERITY ZONES
(EL SOBRANTE AREA)
Specific Request(s) or Recommendation(s) & Background & Justification
RECOMMENDATIONS:
CONFIRM additional very high fire severity zone in the El Sobrante area and
SUBSTITUTE new Exhibit C to Ordinance 96-8 describing the boundaries of such
zone as identified by the California Department of Forestry and Fire
Protection.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None known.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
On May 14, 1996, the Board of Supervisors adopted an ordinance to implement
AB-337 dealing with very high fire severity zones . Three exhibits attached
to the ordinance described the boundaries of each of three zones in Orinda,
Lafayette and E1 Sobrante areas, respectively, as identified by the
California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection ( "Department" ) . The
Department has now redefined the boundaries of the very high fire severity
zone in the E1 Sobrante area. The attached new Exhibit C reflects those
boundaries and replaces the existing Exhibit C.
