SUBJECT: Determine the Need to Continue the Emergency Action Regarding the Emergency Repair
of the San Ramon Creek Drop Structure No. 7, Danville Area

SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. Recommended Action:
DETERMINE that there is a need to continue the emergency action taken by the Board of
Supervisors on June 18, 1996 pursuant to Public Contract Code Sections 22035 and 22050, to
repair the Drop Structure No. 7 in San Ramon Creek, Danville area.
II. Financiallmpact:
Cost of repairs is estimated at $78,211 plus contract administration, funded by Flood Zone 3B
(100%).
III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
A. One June 18, 1996 the Board of Supervisors declared an emergency and authorized the
Chief Engineer to proceed in the most expeditious manner to repair the subject drop
structure.
B. Repair status is as follows:
1. Bids were received on July 3, 1996.
2. The project has been awarded to Cimarron Construction of Modesto for $78,211.
3. Contract work began July 22, 1996. The contract is for 30 working days.
IV. Consequences of Neciative Action:
Repair work would not be completed before next winter.
