II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The estimated project cost is $700,000 funded by Measure C (95%) andSB-300 (5%)• III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: The project includes placing a layer of asphalt concrete over existing pavement. It is needed to prevent further deterioration of the pavement surface. The project has been determined to be in compliance with the General Plan and is exempt from CEQA because it consists of routine maintenance of existing roadways. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Delay in approving the project will result in a delay of design and construction and may jeopardize funding. Road surface treatment projects maintain the structural integrity of the roadway and may occur on major arterial or commuter routes. If so, the contractor will be instructed to work only during non-commute hours so as not to interrupt the flow of traffic, and will phase the work if necessary to minimize disruption to motorists.
