Bragdon Director of Community Development DATE: August 13, 1996 SUBJECT: Economic Development Project Manager SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATIONS APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Deputy Director- Redevelopment to execute a contract with Emmanuel R. Ungson for Economic Development Project Manager Services. FISCAL IMPACT This contract position will not involve General Funds. The contract position will be initially funded from Trust Fund 810900-0830, Sub Account 018 108 010, which are available solely for housing, community development, and economic development purposes. In the future, the position is expected to be funded with Redevelopment and other non-General Fund sources. First year annual costs are not to exceed $80,000. BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS The Board of Supervisors has a desire to affirmatively address economic development issues. These many diverse initiatives can be better coordinated and implemented, and evolved to a more formidable level, by hiring an Economic Development Project Manger. This position will supplement and coordinate with the activities the County is currently undertaking in the economic development area, and create additional capacity of the County in the areas of business retention, business attraction, and business assistance. The primary focus of this position will be on enhancing the job/tax base of the unincorporated County.
