Block Grants Program. There is strong agreement that these funds should be
used to strengthen the investigation and prosecution of domestic violence
cases in Contra Costa County in a coordinated manner and this is an area the
District Attorney and Sheriff-Coroner are exploring.
Once funding is received, an Advisory Committee is required to review the
application and make non-binding recommendations on the use of the funding,
and the County is required to conduct at least one public hearing on the use
of Block Grant funds prior to fund obligation.
The application is due to BJA no later than August 9, 1996 . The application
must, however, be submitted to the State Office of Criminal Justice Planning
for review and comment at least 20 days prior to submission to BJA.
