HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07231996 - C63 BOARD TO: O OF SUPERVISORS _ f m Contra Costa FROM: William Walker, M.D. County Health Services Director DATE: July 17, 1996 SUBJECT: Designation of EQE International to the Unocal San Francisco Refinery Safety Audit svr_aric RMUEsrp OR RE0=NE sMTM(S)a W=GRorrrro MW JUMMATM RECOMMENDATION: Approve the selection and designation of EQE International to serve as consultant to the third party safety audit of the Unocal San Francisco Refinery, located in Rodeo, and to approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute on behalf of Contra Costa County, a forthcoming contract in the amount of $59,970 as EQE International's bid amount. BACKGROUND: On July 11, 1995, in response to a series of incidents which had occurred at the Unocal Refinery in 1994 and 1995, the Board of Supervisors directed that staff undertake a Safety Audit of the Unocal Refinery located in Rodeo. The Board approved the Audit Scope of Work on February 1, 1996, approved the contract between the County and Unocal for conducting the audit, and directed the Health Services Director to send out a Request for Proposals (RFP) for contractors interested in conducting the Safety Audit. On July 11, 1996, the Unocal Safety Audit Monitor's Group selected EQE International as the best qualified applicant. FISCAL IMPACT: None. The full amount specified is to be reimbursed to the County as per item 10.4 of the agreement in place between Unocal and Contra Costa County.
