It was and has been our understanding that this seat on the Planning Commission was to be filled through a coordinated appointment process between the City of San Ramon and our Supervisor. Both previous appointees, Paula Lucia and her predecessor, Cynthia Jones, were nominated and appointed by this procedure. We were under the impression that among the seven (7) member commission (one) 1 member is nominated from each community - i.e., Alamo, Danville and San Ramon, and (one) from the unincorporated areas such as Blackhawk or Tassajara. The City of San Ramon upon learning of Paula Lucia's resignation went thru the process and expense of publicly advertising for the position (see attached) and selecting a candidate. We in turn notified Ms. Campbell of our intention to nominate her. We understand the final decision rests with the Board of Supervisors and would appreciate your consideration of our recommendation. If the communities will not have any input to the selection process in the future, San Ramon and I'm sure Danville and Alamo would like to know so we don't embarrass ourselves and our residents. I have lived and worked in the San Ramon Valley since 1982. Prior to that I lived in Pleasanton, and was there since 1976. I have been working as a Realtor since my residency in California in 1976. During this time, I have served on both Associations of Realtors, Southern Alameda and Contra Costa as a Director and also as a State Director for the State Association. I also serve the Community in the capacity of PTA President Elect of California High School for the 1996-97 school year, and have been President of the Walt Disney School PTA twice, I will also be serving as the Del Valle PTA Council Corresponding Secretary next school year. My interest in this position is due to the fact that I have watched this valley grow rather rapidly without the foresight of availability of schools, water, fire and police services and this troubles me. It also affects my business. I believe in growth and development but planned where every homeowner has the ability to live, work and be educated in their own community. I would like to be a part of this process. Sincerely, Vicky L../Campbell ✓ VLC
