RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the expenditure of an amount not to exceed $15, 000, for the period from July 1, 1995 through June 30, 1996, to fund the Health Services Department's continued participation in U.C. Berkeley's College Work-Study Program under Agreement #23-010-6 with the University. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Paid Work-Study Program is funded 50% by the participating agency (County) and 50% by the University of California, Berkeley. Funding for the County's portion of this Contract is included in the Department's Fiscal Year 1995-96 Budget and is funded by State and Federal funds. The Board of Supervisors previously approved a payment limit of $7, 000 for FY 1993-94 and $15, 000 for FY 1994-95. Approval of the FY 1995-96 payment limit of $15, 000 will result in a total three-year payment limit of $37, 000 for this contract which expires June 30, 1996. Expenditure of the total payment limit under this Agreement will depend upon the Department's utilization of students participating in the program during the term of the Agreement. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: The Health Services Department has participated in the College Work- Study Program with the University of California, Berkeley since 1982. This program, which is jointly funded - by the County and the University, provides the County with the services of University students who perform part-time work at very reasonable hourly rates, and provides the students with funds needed to ' pursue higher education. On July 13 , 1993 , the Board of Supervisors approved College Work-Study Program Agreement #23-010-6 with the University of California, Berkeley, for the three year period from July 1, 1993 through June 30, 1996, and authorized expenditure of $7, 000 for this Program for Fiscal Year 1993-94 . On May 31, 1994, the Board of Supervisors authorized expenditure of $15, 000 for Fiscal Year 1994-95. The purpose of this Board Order is to provide continued funding for the Program through FY 1995-96, so that University students may continue to provide services for the Health Services Department.
