i0mit EAS, the State of California has a varied coastline of sandy 6eaches, rocby shores,
productive estuaries, marshes, tiddflats, ur6an areas andhar6ors;and
U,YMj EAS, the natural resources of the coastalzone are among California's most important
environmental and economic resources;and
' &W� E, ,AS, the marine environment is one of the most valua6le resources for recreation
tourism,fishing and other coastal industries;and
U,Y&REAS, Contra Costa County is strongly committed to the wise management of the
coastline to ensure that the environmentalandeconomic value of the coastalzone will6e sustained,•
and
SE AS,preserving the productivity and quality of coastal resources requires pu6lu
awareness, support andan understanding that protection of the coast is a responsi6ility shared 6y
individual citizens, the 6usiness community and pu6lu institutions; and
W-H1E4MAS, Californians are now adopting beaches year round through the California
Coastal Commission'sAdopt-a-Beach program;and
%,Y&q�EAS, the Coastal Commission wilrsponsor COASTKT EYJ in California from
Septem6er 16 through Octo6er 9 and the statewide Cleanup Day on Septem6er 23, 1995.
