Gayle Bishop r Chair ARK 80ARpOFS Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors ACOSTgCps'0 County Administration Building 651 Pine Street, Room 106 Martinez, CA 94553 Dear Ms . Bishop: Thank ybu for your letter regarding the recent Federal District Court decision regarding the San Luis Drain. I can assure you that Senator Feinstein is well aware of this decision, which is but one of many actions we are currently tracking regarding California water policy. It is our understanding that the Bureau of Reclamation is now appealing that decision. While this matter remains in the courts we will watch it carefully, but only after the appeal is disposed of will Senator Feinstein consider whether additional legislative action is necessary. Please be assured that Senator Feinstein is actively involved in trying to achieve a long term resolution of the many disputes that are ongoing regarding water policy. She believes that the Bay-Delta Accord reached last December 15 represents a major step in the right direction, . and she is determined to maintain that positive, cooperative atmosphere between the federal and state governments, and among the major stakeholder groups . Sincerely, Michael S. McGill Chief of Staff
