HOW YOU CAN HELP AC TRANSIT LEGISLATE NEW REVENUES • Review and decide if you can support.SB 877 regional gas tax for transit. • Ensure new bonds and taxes include operating funds for current transit, not just new rail construction. • Promote mass transit funding equivalent to automobiles. • Help fund paratransit service. • Help fund school service. FORM PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS • Fund or purchase service for employees. • Evaluate current land use and zoning policies to encourage transit opportunities. • Avoid competition of special purpose shuttles with AC Transit services. • Contract for use of our maintenance and training centers. • Participate in "user side" subsidies for seniors, disabled and/or students. • Market transit in published material as a means to increase ridership. • Improve commute traffic flow and reduce congestion. • Shape Regional Transit Plans that encourage transit. refsst file:6d\50712a
