RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Frank Puglisi, Jr. ) , to execute on behalf of the County, Renewal Contract #26-244-1 with Lohmar, in the amount of $1, 610, 846, for the period from July 1, 1995 through June 30, 1998 , for linen rental and management services for Merrithew Memorial Hospital and Clinics. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This contract is included in the Health Services Department Enterprise I budget. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: Linen rental service for Merrithew Memorial Hospital and Clinics has been provided under contract since 1984. On June 23, 1992, the Board of Supervisors approved Standard Contract #26-244 with ,Lohmar (for the period from July 1, 1992 through June 30, 1995) , for the provision of Linen rental services for Merrithew Memorial Hospital and Clinics. Approval of Renewal Contract #26-244-1 will continue the Contractor's services through June 30, 1998. This Renewal Contract is subject to the General Conditions and Special Conditions (if any) of the Prior Contract. 9 . Additional Provisions. This Renewal Contract is subject to the Additional Provisions (if any) attached hereto, which are incorporated herein by reference, and which control over any conflicting provisions of the Prior Contract, or any amendments thereto. 10. Paragraph 8 (Compensation) of the Services Plan is hereby modified by the addition of a new subparagraph d. , to read as follows: "d. Consumer Price Index (CPI) Adjustment. On July 1 of each year hereunder, Contractor's unit prices may be adjusted by an amount equal to the CPI percentage for the preceding twelve (12) month period, but not to exceed a total increase of five percent (5%) per year. Not later than July 10th of each year, Contractor shall submit a draft rate schedule reflecting the above authorized rate adjustment for approval by the Health Services Director, or his designee. The draft rate schedule shall not become effective unless and until it is approved in writing by the Health Services Director, or his designee. For the purposes of this section "CPI" means the "Consumer Price Index, All U.S. Cities, All Urban Consumers" , published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the United States Department of Labor.
