The draining of the lake has commenced. Predatory white bass have been found past the fish screens on the Kings River built to prevent the fish from entering the San Joaquin River and the Delta. The draining of the lake has been temporarily stopped. The State Department of Fish and Game has used a chemical to kill the white bass in the Kings River. The Water Committee recommends that the Chairman be authorized to sign a letter from the Contra Costa County Water Agency to the State Department of Fish and Game, requesting that the draining of Tulare Lake be stopped until the cause of the failure of the fish screens is positively determined and that no water treated with chemicals to kill the white bass be pumped out of the Kings River until health officials state that the chemicals will not pose a danger to water users, including those served by the Contra Costa Water District. zL 74 Sunne Wright McPeak Tom Torlakson Supervisor, District IV Supervisor, District V IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the recommendations of the Water Committee are APPROVED. 1 hereby cartft that this is alms and correct copy o1 an aeucn taken and enterod an the minutes of the Board of Su9en;isCrra on the dato shown.
