HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08011995 - C18 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring ) The Greater Richmond ) Interfaith Program (GRIP) ) Resolution No. 951338 on the occasion of its 30th ) Anniversary ) WHEREAS, the Greater Richmond Interfaith Program, (GRIP) is a non-profit organization and a union of 27 congregations, representing.Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish religions all working together within the Greater Richmond community; and WHEREAS, through its efforts, GRIP has established the Emergency Food Pantry, the Rape Crisis Center, the Richmond Farmers Market, and the Community Housing Development Corporation; and WHEREAS, GRIP has worked to help develop many facilities for people in desperate need, including the Souper Center, which serves 5,000 meals per month; the Emergency Winter Shelter for the Homeless Families and Project Home Again, which placed 63 families into permanent housing; and WHEREAS, GRIP has also addressed the needs of the elderly and their families in the community by working with West County Adult Day Care, a respite for families providing daytime supervision and therapeutic activities for the frail elderly with Alzheimer's and other disabilities; and WHEREAS, Supervisor Jim Rogers has been honored to participate in GRIP walks and community events; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors, on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of its inception, congratulates the Greater Richmond Interfaith Program (GRIP), on its exemplary involvement within the Greater Richmond community, its contributions to the County of Contra Costa, its participation in creating organizations to assist those in desperate need, as well as its model for ethnic and interfaith cooperation and participation, and joins with its members in wishing it continued success in its achievements in making the community a richer, healthier, safer place to reside.
