BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS On June 20, 1993 the Board appointed seven members to the Ad-Hoc Committee and added two seats for a nominee from the Council of Industries and from the Western States Petroleum Association. Both of these organizations forwarded a nominee as listed in Item #1 above. The Board also directed the committee to consider expanding the industrial membership. The committee discussed this issue at their first meeting. Committee members suggested adding representation from the four groups identified in #2 above. It should be emphasized that the Committee did not vote on a recommendation, and the four groups presented above are those that were suggested by individual members at the meeting. Some committee members also questioned the need for additional industrial representation. Should the Board determine that additional industrial representation is warranted and that the organizations/groups listed in Item #2 above should be added to the committee, Lynn Wise and Marge Leede have both indicated their willingness to participate as committee members . Staff has also contacted the North Richmond Industrial and Agricultural Committee and the Building Industry Association who indicated their willingness to participate if directed by the Board. The Health Department staff to the Public and Environmental Health Advisory Board (PEHAB) has notified our department that the two Ad- Hoc committee members which were nominated by PEHAB will be asking that this item be placed on the next Ad-Hoc Committee agenda for further discussion.
