SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT TO THE CCHP (HMO) ADVISORY BOARD
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
1 . APPOINT to the vacant "Health Maintenance Organization Member"
seat on the CCHP (HMO) Advisory Board, previously occupied by
Suzanne Francois, for a term ending January 31, 1996 :

BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa Health Plan (HMO) Advisory Board consists of 12
members, representing various categories and disciplines . Three of
the members are to be members of the Contra Costa Health Plan. One
of these three seats is vacant.
The HMO Advisory Board is responsible for advising the Board of
Supervisors and the Health Services Director on policies relating
to the administration of the Contra Costa Health Plan, the County' s
federally qualified Health Maintenance Organization.
The CCHP Advisory Board has recruited for this vacancy and has
recommended that Lisa Vegvary be appointed to this vacant seat.
Our Committee had the opportunity to interview Ms . Vegvary on
September 19, 1994 . Ms . Vegvary is very involved in issues having
to do with breast feeding and is a lactation educator and
counselor. She is a member of the Contra Costa Health Plan and is
most interested in continuing to see that the CCHP fulfills its
commitment to mothers and children. We have encouraged her to
follow through on this commitment and heartily recommend her
appointment to the Advisory Board.
