DATE: September 15, 1994 County
Approval of Agreement #23-184 with the County of San Mateo
SUBJECT: as Host County for Medi-Cal Administrative Claiming
(formerly known as SB 910)
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee to
execute on behalf of the County, Agreement #23-184 with the County of
San Mateo, for Calendar Year 1994, with a payment limit of $36, 000, to
reimburse San Mateo, as Host County, for Contra Costa County's share
of Medi-Cal Administrative Claiming (formerly known as SB 910)
participation fees.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Under this Program, the State Department of Health Services reimburses
the County for a portion of the actual expenses incurred by the County
for specified administrative and case management activities related to
non-medical services for Medi-Cal eligible clients who receive
services from the County's Health Services Department.
San Mateo County acts as Host County for the State and under the terms
of this Agreement, Contra Costa will pay San Mateo County $36, 000 for
participation fees.
Medi-Cal Administrative Claiming (formerly known as SB 910) nets this
County approximately $3 - $4 million per year.
II .[REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
In 1993 , pursuant to new legislation (SB 910) , the Department began
claiming reimbursement from the State Department of Health Services
for specified administrative and case management activities related to
non-medical services for the Medi-Cal eligible clients who receive
services from the County's Health Services Department.
San Mateo County now acts as Host County for the State and is
responsible for maintaining the Medi-Cal Administrative Claiming
(formerly known as SB 910) Trust Fund through which it receives
participant fees from the Local Jurisdictions (Counties) , disburses
the funds to the appropriate agencies, and coordinates the Program.
In order for Contra Costa to claim its share of the State funds, the
County must contract with both the State Department of Health Services
(#29-309) and with the County of San Mateo (#23-184) .
