CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of Proclaiming )
the Month of October, 1994 ) RESOLUTION NO. 94/490
FAMILY HISTORY MONTH )
WHEREAS the Contra Costa County Genealogical Society and
other genealogical and historical societies in Contra Costa
County are promoting the study of family history and the use of
sound techniques in genealogical research; and
WHEREAS the members are working to collect, preserve, and
disseminate genealogical information on the early citizens of
the County of Contra Costa through use of its public records as
well as the records of its churches, businesses , and families ;
and
WHEREAS the history of a community, county, state and
nation can best be told through the lives of its citizens ; and
WHEREAS people of all ages should be encouraged to gather
family stories, customs and traditions, and study family history
as an academic discipline and appreciate the richness of the
lives of our ancestors and the importance of the individual
within the fabric of American history; and
WHEREAS the citizens of Contra Costa County, the Board of
Supervisors, and County Departments have long recognized the
importance of studying, and preserving the history of Contra
Costa County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County
Board of Supervisors does acknowledge the efforts of the Contra
Costa County Genealogical Society and support its activities,
and does hereby proclaim the month of October, 1994 as FAMILY
HISTORY MONTH.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on September 27 , 1994 by a unanimous
vote of the Board Members present.
