CONCORD BLUE DEVILS as the ) RESOLUTION NO. 941437
1994 Drum Corps International )
World Champions )
WHEREAS, the Concord Blue Devils won an unprecedented seventh first place title at the 1994
Drum Corps International Championships, and
WHEREAS, since 1975 the Blue Devils have always placed in the top five at the championships,
with their last first place win in 1986; and
WHEREAS, this year, the 128 young people that make up the corps competed against more than
100 other teams and walked away with a near perfect 98.4 final score; a huge trophy; individual
medals; and, most importantly, the pride that comes with being the best in the world; and
WHEREAS, the Concord Blue Devils are the only corps in the nation to have accomplished the
tremendous feat of being seven-time world champions; and
WHEREAS, the Blue Devils'fabulous performances have added musical enjoyment to many
events around the county, and
WHEREAS, the contributions the Blue Devils Association make to the youth of Contra Costa
County are a perfect example of how involvement in the community and participation in a
constructive group can positively influence the lives of young people and put them on the right
path to a healthy, happy adulthood; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors and the citizens of Contra Costa are extremely proud and
fortunate to have the Blue Devils as an essential component the county.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors honors the CONCORD
BLUE DEVILS DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS as the 1994 Drum Corps International
Champions. We hope they enjoy the glory and prestige of being seven-time world champions
and wish them continued success in their future competitions.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON September 13, 1994, by a unanimous vote of the Board members
present.
