THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
DATE: August 2', 1994 MATTER OF RECORD
----------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------
SUBJECT: CLOSED SESSION
The Chairman announced that a closed session would be held
in accordance with the parameters as set forth in the attached
announcement.
V. J. Westman, County Counsel, advised the Board that .it was
brought to his attention after the Closed Session Agenda was
posted that the need, due to subsequent judicial action in
Catherine Latimore vs. Contra Costa County litigation, arose to
consider whether further instructions should be given legal
counsel in Closed Session. He requested the Board to include
this matter in its Closed Session Agenda announcement.
By unanimous vote (Supervisors Smith, Bishop, DeSaulnier,
Torlakson and Powers) , the Board found that because this need
arose after the Closed Session Agenda was posted, the Latimore
Litigation was added to the Closed Session Agenda for this day.
Therefore, at 1: 30 p.m. the Board recessed into closed
session in Room 105 of the County Administration Building, 651
Pine Street, Martinez.
At 2 : 35 p.m. the Board reconvened. Mr. Westman announced
that the Board in Closed Session had authorized its attorneys as
appropriate to seek circuit appellate court review of the Judge's
Order entered in the Latimore Case in the County Hospital matter.
He advised that Supervisors Bishop and DeSaulnier had voted no.
The Board then continued with the regular agenda.
