Let's do something about it together! The United Nations has designated 1994 as the International Year of the Family, with the theme: "Family: Resources and Responsibilities in a Changing World." Salt Lake City is honored to host a first ever global meeting between local government and corporations on the family. This is in cooperation with the United Nations Secretariat for the International Year of the Family. Emphasis will be placed on "Government and Private Sector Partnerships for Families." The conference will be heldMarch 16-19, 1995, as one of the culminating events of the International Year of the Family. Local officials worldwide along with corporate and business leadership in their areas have been invited to attend. Through workshops, reports, and model programs, participants will explore the ways in which local government action can strengthen families and how local governments and the business community can form dynamic partnerships in support of families. For the first time, those who attend will have the benefit of the experience and expertise developed in cities around the world. Success stories will be shared, strategies for success created, and a data base of the best programs formed. A network among participants will continue, and a statement of recommendations in behalf of families will be drafted and submitted to the United Nations. Salt Lake City is hosting this important conference because of our recognition that the success of our families is at the core of our success as a city. It is our hope you will join us in March as this conference will help us all to save our communities one family at a time. Sincer y, . .
