BACKGROUND:
The Substance Abuse Advisory Board consists of 20 members . Each
member of the Board of Supervisors nominates three members for
appointment by the Board of Supervisors . There are also five at-
large seats, applicants for which are nominated by the Internal
Operations Committee. The term of office of one at-large member
expired June 30, 1994 . In addition, three of the other four at-
large seats are vacant due to resignations .
On July 7 , 1994 our Committee interviewed those of the applicants
who were able to be present for the interviews and reviewed the
applications of those who were unable to be present for the
interview. There are a number of committed and interested
applicants whom we feel would add a great deal to the Substance
Abuse Advisory Board. From those who applied, all of whom appear
to be most interested and committed, we are making the above
recommendations . This will now fill all of the at-large seats on
the Substance Abuse Advisory Board.
