Each member of the Board of Supervisors nominates three members for appointment by the Board of Supervisors . There are also five at- large seats, applicants for which are nominated by the Internal Operations Committee. The term of office of one at-large member expired June 30, 1994 . In addition, three of the other four at- large seats are vacant due to resignations . On July 7 , 1994 our Committee interviewed those of the applicants who were able to be present for the interviews and reviewed the applications of those who were unable to be present for the interview. There are a number of committed and interested applicants whom we feel would add a great deal to the Substance Abuse Advisory Board. From those who applied, all of whom appear to be most interested and committed, we are making the above recommendations . This will now fill all of the at-large seats on the Substance Abuse Advisory Board. 2 SUBSTANCE ABUSE ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERSHIP: Twenty Members shall have a professional interest in, or personal commitment to,alleviating problems related to drug abuse and inappropriate alcohol use in their community. Three representatives to be nominated by each member of the Board of Supervisors Five at-large members to be nominated by the Internal Operations Committee to insure geographic, racial and ethnic diversity on the Advisory Board. Any individual who is a paid employee of or a paid consultant to any agency which contracts with the County on behalf of its Health Services Deparment for any drug or alcohol-related programs is prohibited from serving on this Board. Any individual who is a volunteer member of the Board of Directors of any agency which contracts with the County on behalf of its Health Services Department for any drug or alcohol-related programs is discouraged from serving.
