CHIEFS• ''.i: CONTRA COSTA COUNTY y CALIFORNIA POLICE CHIEFS' ASSOCIATION RECEIVE® AM - 91994 August 5, 1994 CLEHKSUPERVISORS COTD ORA CSTA Q_.w Board of :supervisors: The contra Costa County Police Chiefs' Association has been advised that the Emergency Medical Care Committee was one of many advisory committees that were recently abolished by the Board of Supervisors. As you know, the Police Chiefs' Association assigns a representative to this committee for liaison purposes. It is the view of the Police Chiefs' Association that this committee serves a valuable purpose in assuring that all county and municipal emergency services are prepared in the event of a major disaster. At the regularly scheduled meetings, the membership reviews training and emergency medical care issues, such as the field exercises and quality of service delivery. The 1993 Annual Report which was disseminated last month, reflects the contribution that this group makes to all agencies in the county. The State of California has experienced frequent and significant major disasters that require coordination and mutual aid between neighboring cities. This is not the time to pull back from our Emergency Preparedness efforts. We urge the Health Services Director and the Board of Supervisors to re-institute this committee as provided for in your recent action.
