THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
DATE: July 26, 1994 MATTER OF RECORD
On this date the Board of Supervisors heard a presentation by
Kathy Brown, Deputy General Services Director, on the new zero
emission vehicles and on a grant from the Bay Area Air Quality
Management District for the vehicles . Michael Murphy, Bay Area
Air Quality Management District, appeared and commented on the
grant program which is a part of AB 434 .

DEMONSTRATION OF NEW ELECTRIC VEHICLE (ZERO EMISSION VERICLE:ZEV)
ADDED TO COUNTY FLEET, TUESDAY, JULY 26, 1994
WHO: The Board of Supervisors, County Administrator, General
Services Director and representatives from the Bay Area
Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) and Golden Bear
Equipment Co.
WHAT: Demonstration of ZEV, funded in part by The SAAQMD's
Transportation Fund For Clean Air.

WHEN: Tuesday, July 26, 1994

WHY; consistent with the Board of Supervisors' commitment to
innovative solutions to the problem of emissions
reduction through the use of alternatives to gasoline
fueled vehicles, the Board is demonstrating the County
fleet's newest electric vehicle, which was purchased in
part with grant funding from the Ray Area Air Quality
Management District. The Cushman ZEV built by Ransomes
America Corporation, supplied by Golden Bear Equipment
Company of Martinez, will be used to move laundry and
supplies at Merrithew Memorial Hospital. The ZEV will
replace a gas powered vehicle eliminating gas fumes;
reducing emissions and noise, and it will require less
maintenance and is more economical to operate than a
comparable gas powered vehicle.

The ZEV will be on display following Board presentation.
