These contracts provide either family support services or intensive, in- home, family-based support services. As a part of the budgetary process, the Board of Supervisors authorized and directed the Health Services Department and Social Service Department to explore the feasibility of a new contract relationship for this program which would allow claiming of federal funds for specified family preservation functions. The Departments are currently working on this effort. Should it prove cost-effective, the contracts authorized by this action can be terminated with 30 day notice and new contracts can be developed that contain the appropriate requirements.
