THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

vote:

SUBJECT: Support For AB 314 Relative to Evaluating Rail and
Bus Transit Solutions in Eastern Contra Costa County
IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the Director of Community
Development is DIRECTED to prepare for the Chair' s signature a
letter to Governor Wilson urging him to sign Senate Bill 314 as
amended allocating $200, 000 for East County Transportation, and a
letter to Senator Boatwright expressing appreciation for his work
on this legislation.

Dear Governor Wilson:
On behalf of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, I urge
you to sign Senate Bill 314 which was sent to your desk on the
final night of this year's legislative session. This bill
includes an .allocation of $200, 000 to the County for evaluating
rail and bus transit solutions in Eastern Contra Costa County.
These transit solutions are critical for areas like Eastern
Contra Costa which are expected to accommodate large increases in
population and jobs while meeting rigorous new state requirements
to manage congestion and improve air quality.
Please be aware that the Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed
to request your support for Senate Bill 314.

Dear Senator B�wright:
On behalf of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, I wish
to commend you for your successful effort to include Contra
Costa's project in Senate Bill 314. This bill includes an
allocation of $200, 000 to the County for evaluating rail and bus
transit solutions in Eastern Contra Costa County. As you know,
such transit solutions are critical for areas like Eastern Contra
Costa which are expected to accommodate large increases in
population and jobs while meeting rigorous new state requirements
to manage congestion and improve air quality.
The Board unanimously requested that I send you this letter of
thanks, recognizing your urgent action on this bill was critical
to it being forwarded to the Governor on the final night of the
legislative session. Also be aware that we have sent a letter to
Governor Wilson, urging him to sign Senate Bill 314 .
