Leland Ave., Ste. 100 Pittsburg, CA 94565 Gm Dear Chair a kson: September 20-24 is Beat the Back-Up Week in the Bay Area. We are asking you, along with all the Bay Area Boards of Supervisors and City Councils, to pass a proclamation in support of this major public event. By working together, we can effect a positive difference in the Bay Area commute. RIDES' staff, along with our many sponsors, will be working directly with commuters and employers in your community to encourage people to use alternatives to driving alone to work. Current transit and ridesharing commuters will be given "petitions" they can use to get their drive-alone friends to try a new way to get to work for just one day during the Beat the Back-Up Week. After last year's campaign, we found that many people who tried something "new" stayed with it. We are asking that you have an approved proclamation by August 31 so that we can publicize your involvement. RIDES would appreciate a copy of the proclamation and would be happy to pick it up at your office when it is ready. Please call me at (415) 281-4378 to make these arrangements, or you can mail it to RIDES for Bay Area Commuters, 60 Spear Street, Suite 650, San Francisco, CA 94105-1512, Attention: Linda Jeffery.
