HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09141993 - 1.49 I. yy C`or04 V/ W""+ In the matter of Honoring DENNIS LEPAR ] Resolution Number 93/531 On his Leave of Absence after 20 Years ] of Service to Contra Costa County ] WHEREAS Dennis Lepak is an uncommon man in his dedication, clarity, and mission regarding the rights of children and quality of Mental Health Services in Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS Dennis Lepak is taking a leave of absence after 20 years of service as a Contra Costa County Probation Officer; and WHEREAS Dennis Lepak served in 1992-93 as Chair of the Contra Costa County Mental Health Advisory Board and shepherded the implementation of AB 14 and the transition to the Mental Health Commission; and WHEREAS Dennis Lepak, on a years leave of absence from the Contra Costa County Probation Department, served as Director of Contra Costa Suicide and Crisis Intervention; and WHEREAS Dennis Lepak served from 1986-91 as Chair of the Contra Costa County Mental Health Advisory Board; and WHEREAS Dennis Lepak served as a board member of the Expanded Youth Services Board, Children's Ad Hoc Committee, Children's Coaliton, Juvenile Hall Replacement and Alternatives Committee, State Organization of Mental Health Advisory Boards, State AB 904 Planning Council, West Contra Costa Youth Services Bureau, and East County Detox; and WHEREAS Dennis Lepak testified in Washington D. C. before Congressman George Miller's Select Committee on Children, Families, and Youth regarding out-of-state out-of-home placement of children, and Dennis Lepak's oppositon led to the Passage of Congressman Miller's legislation and funding for Family Preservation Projects and Dennis Lepak was selected to participate in the National 1993 Children's Summit Report; and WHEREAS Dennis Lepak has been married to his life comparlion, Paula, for 26 years and they have raised two sons in Martinez, Scott and Jeffrey; and WHEREAS Dennis Lepak is dependable, a clear thinker, a strong advocate, and a voice for those who cannot always speak for themselves; and WHEREAS few people are irreplaceable, Dennis Lepak is one of those rare people because he is an uncommon man; and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa , California hereby CONGRATULATES Dennis Lepak on his leave of absence from County service, C0K-XNDS Dennis Lepak on his exceptional contributions and advocacy for the children and mentally ill of Contra Costa County, and CONVEYS to Dennis Lepak and his wife Paula, its best wishes for a pleasant year of Pacific Ocean cruising. PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this 14th day of September, 1993.
