(Resolution attached) FINANCIAL IMPACT: Provides additional revenue of approximately $495,000 in fiscal year 1993/94 for the fire district. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: In June of 1980, voters of the Moraga Fire Protection District approved a permanent fire flow taxing authority to maintain fire district services and capital outlay programs. In November 1992, the voters approved an increase in the maximum rate from 6. 0 cents to 30. 0 cents. Fire flow tax rates ranging from 0 to 30. 0 cents are established annually by the Board of Supervisors in their capacity as Governing Board of the Moraga Fire Protection District. County Ordinance 80-19 requires the fire flow tax rate be set by the Board of Supervisors no later than July 31st for levy in the 1993/94 fiscal year. District revenues in 1992/93 were inadequate to meet the total needs of the district. With the loss of the Special District Augmentation Fund as a result of State budget legislation, District revenues will not meet the needs of the District in 1993/94 . Additional revenue from voter approved taxes will insure that existing service levels are maintained and capit 1 programs of the district can be funded in fiscal year '1993/94. .- Continued on Attachment: YES Signature: Recommendation of County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee Approve Other Signature(s) : Action of Board on: Cq Approved as Recommended LOther Vote of Supervisors: I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THIS IS A TRUE AND CORRECT COPY OF AN ACTION TAKEN Unanimous (Absent ) AND ENTERED ON THE MINUTES OF THE Ayes: Noes: ) BOARD OF SUPE• VISORS ON DATE SHOWN.
