Miner, Executive Director (�^S+a Contra Costa County Private Industry Council - Costa County DATE: July 7, 1993 SUBJECT: Acceptance of $3,000 Donation from Pacific Bell for 1993 Summer Youth Jobs Program SPECIFIC REOUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)i BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDATION A. For the County Board of Supervisors to accept the private donation of$3,000 from Pacific Bell for the purpose of generating summer jobs for unemployed youths in Contra Costa County; and whereas such acceptance complies with California Government Code Section 25355; B. To authorize the Executive Director of the Private Industry Council to administer said funds for payment of wages and fringe benefits of youths hired temporary under the County's unsubsidized 1993 Summer Youth Jobs Program; C. To authorize said Executive Director to execute a non-financial worksite agreement with Pacific Bell and to begin hiring youth on or after July 13, 1993, as temporary County employees, for subsequent SYJP worksite placement in supervised Pacific Bell Company. D. To authorize said Executive Director to prepare a letter for all Board Members to sign expressing appreciation to Pacific Bell for their support of the SYJP donation. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT None. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND Pacific Bell has for the last two years continued to assist in providing accommodations for the Summer Youth Jobs Program (SYJP) kick-off Breakfast; and now also wishes to alleviate the County's unemployment situation confronting our youth.
