On this date, the Board of Supervisors heard a presentation by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District Employees on Rideshare Week and adopted Resolution No. 92/620 commending local businesses, cities and school districts for participating in the "Spare the Air Campaign. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED by the Board of Supervisors that Val Alexeeff, Director of Growth Management and Economic Development, is DESIGNATED as the County contact person for the campaign. School ) RESOLUTION NO. 92/ 620 Districts for Participating in ) the "Spare the Air" Campaign ) The people of Contra Costa County are aware of the importance of a clean and liveable environment, and a liveable environment includes clean air for all citizens to breathe. To achieve clean air requires a commitment by the business community to curb air pollution from vehicle use, the work environment, and pollution sources in the home. In Contra Costa County, 37 businesses, cities, and school districts have voluntarily joined the "Spare the Air" campaign aimed at educating employees about the sources and alternatives to polluting behavior. A voluntary approach to reducing air pollution by altering individual behavior provides a cost-effective way to provide cleaner air and a more liveable environment. The Board of Supervisors wishes to recognize these 37 participants for their initiative and active involvement in protecting our precious environment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors commends the Contra Costa County businesses, cities, and school districts for their participation in the "Spare the Air" campaign and urges others to follow their lead.
