Today, after its 1982 name change, New Connections has grown with the community and the depth of our society's substance abuse problems to provide a full range of prevention, counseling, and treatment for not only teens but adults and families as well. New Connections' 20 years of success has impacted some 150,000 Contra Costa County residents and has been recognized locally and nationally for its outstanding programs and services. The ideology used is to work with the entire family unit to help them strengthen family bonds and improve communication. New Connections also works intensively with adults suffering from chemical dependency through a six month outpatient program that helps them regain a clean and sober life. We are very grateful to New Connections for giving the citizens of Contra Costa County the services necessary to live a drug-free life. New Connections is a vital tool in our community's "War on Drugs, " and we commend everyone involved in the organization for their participation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of supervisors honors NEW CONNECTIONS on the occasion of its 20th anniversary and wishes the agency continued success.
