Weir, County Clerk-Recorder Costa 'DATE: July 21, 1992 Carty SUBJECT: Increase of Copy Service Fees and Establishment of Fees for Deputy Commissioner of Marriage SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) B BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECCOMMENDATION 1. Approve proposed establishment of County Clerk Deputy Commissioner of Marriage Fees effective August 15, 1992 . A fee of . $15. 00 per one time Deputy Commissioner of Marriage A fee of $50. 00 per County Clerk term for Deputy Commissioner of Marriage. 2 . Approve increase in the charge for copy services from $. 50 per page to $1. 00 per page, effective August 15, 1992 . FINANCIAL IMPACT It is anticipated that revenues will increase for the 1992-93 fiscal year. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND 1. The County Clerk has not charged a fee for a Deputy Commissioner of Marriage in the past, but many California counties are now charging in order to recover actual costs. 2 . A county-wide analysis conducted this year indicates the actual cost for copy service is $2 . 21 per page. We request approval to increase the fee to only $1. 00 because this represents a 100% increase; to increase it to $2 . 00 represents a 300% increase, we feel too large an increase for the public.
