SUBJECT: Approval of Contract #26-251 with Western Physicians Registry
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Chair to execute on behalf of the County,
Contract #26-251 with Western Physicians Registry for the period May
15, 1992 through May 14, 1993 for recruitment of locum tenens
physicians at Merrithew Memorial Hospital and Clinics.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Funding for this Contract is included in the Department' s FY 1992-93
Enterprise I budget projection. The Contractor will be paid a finders
fee of 15% of the amount County pays the locum tenens physicians which
Contractor recruits and places at Merrithew Memorial Hospital. Cost
to the County depends upon utilization.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
Under Contract #26-251, Western Physicians Registry, which specializes
in placement of locum tenens physicians, will recruit physicians for
the County, which the County will then hire to work as temporary
employees to provide vacation, sick leave, and extended leave relief
for County-employed physicians. Physicians, placed by the Contractor,
will be required to be members of the Medical Staff and will be
credentialed through existing medical staff processes.
