DATE: July 6, 1992 0 County
SUBJECT: Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #24-591-2 with „`1
Beverly Bussa-Sokolay, M.F.C.C.
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Chair to execute on behalf of the County, Contract
Amendment Agreement #24-591-2 with Beverly Bussa-Sokolay, M.F.C.C. , effective May
8, 1992, to amend Novation Contract 24-591-1 (effective July 1, 1991 through June
30, 1992, with an automatic six-month extension through December 31, 1992) to
modify the Contract Payment Provisions with no change in the total Contract
payment limit or in the Contract term.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None. This Contract is funded in the Health Services Department Budget by monies
from the Federal Office for Treatment Improvement for Critical Populations (as
allocated to the County in the Drug Program Allocation from the State Department
of Alcohol and Drug Programs) . No County funding is required for this Contract,
and the purpose of this Contract Amendment Agreement is to modify the payment
provisions only.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
On December 17, 1991, your Board approved Novation Contract #24-591-1 with
Beveral Bussa-Sokolay, M.F.C.C. , for consultation and technical assistance with
regard to the development and operation of County's "Taking Back Our Community"
Project.
Subsequent to the execution of the Novation Contract, the Contractor attended an
Office of Treatment Improvement Conference at the request of the Department, and
as the Department attempted to reimburse Ms. Bussa-Sokolay for the expenses she
incurred in attending this conference on behalf of the County, it was discovered
that there was not enough money in the expense reimbursement portion of the
Contract to cover the expenses. The purpose of this Contract Amendment
Agreement #24-591-2 is modify the Contract payment provisions by reducing the
number of service units and the allowance for mileage reimbursement, and shifting
that money to the allowance for "attending training seminars and conferences on
behalf of the County" so that there is no increase in the Payment Limit of the
Contract, but the Contractor may be appropriately reimbursed.
