SUBJECT: APPROVE AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE EAST APRON
RECONSTRUCTION AT BUCHANAN FIELD AIRPORT. PROJECT NO. AIP 3-06-
0050-05
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECONAIENDATION(S) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. Recommended Action:
Approve authorization to advertise for bids for the east apron reconstruction at Buchanan Field
Airport.
II. Financial Impact
The engineer's estimate'r of construction is $732,595. The cost for this work will be funded by the
Federal Aviation Administration under the AIP 03-06-0050-05 Grant. Additionally, approximately
$13,390 of sealcoat, which isnot eligible for FAA funding, will be performed. Airport Enterprise
funds will be required for 10% of the FAA eligible construction and 100% of the ineligible sealcoat.
III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
This project includes the repair and overlay of the east apron area and sealcoat of the east hanger
taxilanes and miscellaneous drainage improvements in the Runway 32R safety area. It is
anticipated that advertising for bids will begin July 20, 1992, with a bid opening date of August 20,
1992. Construction will begin around September 21, 1992 and is expected to be completed within
30 working days, weather permitting.
