AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE 1992-93 PRESCHOOL CONTRACT WITH STATE DEPART-
SUBJECT:MENT OF EDUCATION (CONTRACT NO. CD-0965)
SPECIFIC REOUEST(S)OR.RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I . RECOMMENDED ACTION
AUTHORIZE the Director, Community Services Department, or her
designee, to execute the 1992-93 Preschool Contract with the State
Department of Education (Contract No. CD-0965) to receive funding
in the amount of $106,519 for the provision of child development
services .
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding from this Contract for the period of July 11 1992, through
June 30, 1993, is already reflected in the Department' s proposed FY
1992-93 budget. Funds for this Contract have yet to be approved by
the State, and the amount does not reflect an anticipated decrease
in funding. ,
III . CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION
A decision not to approve this Contract would result in the loss of
needed preschool services to the children of Central Contra Costa
County.
IV. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDED ACTION
The 1992-93 Preschool Contract will provide $106,519 in proposed
continued funding to enable the County to provide preschool
services for approximately 50 children children residing in Central
County. The State has yet to approve funding for this Contract.
Because of this, actual contract allocation is expected to decrease
by an unknown percentage. In the event the State cuts are enacted
it is the intent to move back the ending date of the Contract for
operation on a prorata basis . This Contract will be reviewed and
approved by County Counsel as to form prior to issuanc .
