RECOMMENDED ACTION: Award the contract for wardrobe door and heater fan installation at CA011005, E1 Pueblo, Pittsburg, to the lowest responsible bidder, Younger-Wunar, Inc. , 2107 Kearney Street, El Cerrito, CA 94530, with .a bid amount of $192,100.00, as recommended by the Advisory Housing Commission.. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Under the Fiscal Year 1990 Comprehensive Improvement-Assistance Program $378,000 was allocated to the Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa to proceed with the installation of wardrobe doors and heater fans. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: Bid requests were advertised in the Contra Costa Times. - In an outreach effort, the Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa mailed requests for proposals to small business, female and minority enterprises in the Bay Area. Bids were opened on Wednesday, July 31, 1991 at 2:00 p.m. and were received from four contracting firms. Younger-Wunar, Inc. , 2107 Kearney Street, E1 Cerrito, California, with a Bid Amount of $192,100.00 is determined as the lowest responsible bidder. The Advisory Housing Commission at its Regular Meeting on August 19, 1991 voted to recommend award of the bid for the installation of wardrobe doors and heater fans at CA011005, E1 Pueblo, Pittsburg to the lowest responsible bidder, Younger-Wunar, Inc. at Bid in the amount of $192,100.00. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Should the Board of Commissioners elect to not award the contract for the ' wardrobe door and heater fan installation work at CA011005, E1 Pueblo, Pittsburg, to . Younger-Wunar, Inc. , this work could not be accomplished on a timely basis and the costs of the work would increase beyond t_he available HUD Comprehensive Improvement Assistance Program funding.
